Guest Speaker – David Ensor – CEO International Needs Australia

• 50 NGOs that are Department of Foreign Affairs accredited in AU, INA is one of these
• Been in existence for 50 yrs cost of administration is lean with a large % of funds raised going to the cause rather than administration and overheads
• Their focus is on women and children – women and girls are important to international aid
• INA is working with communities at the edges especially geographically isolated and culturally isolated women and children
• INA says we can work together to help the most vulnerable in some of the world’s most disadvantaged, marginalised, and oppressed communities
• There is an importance in allowing women to retain their dignity by providing a hand up rather than a hand out
• Thre is a focus on also breaking inter-generational poverty and this can be done effectively
• Nelson Mandela was focused on the power of education – this is important to the INA
• INA is working with Myanmar and organising ways to ensure money is spent effectively
• $700m people in the world live on less than $1 a day
• 14 times higher chance of dying in an under-developed country
• To be in the top 50% of the wealthiest people in the world you need $13,389 in assets, to be in the top 10% - $200k
• Women’s earningsup 20% for every year of education
• The first 1000 days of life are the foundations for health and development across life so intervention is important
• Nepal is one of the countries INA works in
  • Nepal is 150^th Nation in Asia in terms of wealth
  • INA works in the poorest part of Nepal
  • School libraries are a good indicator of resources for education
  • Toilets are important to girls especially as they get older they drop out of school during menstruation so toilets have been built to encourage girls to stay in school and not take time out each month
  • Child marriages and child labour are common
  • Flooding of homes is commonplace
• INA have a child sponsorship program you can choose to support
• Helping people save their money – micro finance business financing within the community – farmer associations, individuals setting up barber shops etc
• Partnerships are set up with Hailebury College for example so the pupils help and gain an understanding of what makes a difference

• Collected 30 bags of women’s clothing through CIRI – to help those women going through domestic violence – see Facebook feed for collection places
• Donating $1500 worth hams for the Christmas Hampers
• Carol has purchased gifts for the aged the Glades

• Sat 9^th December – Christmas Market
• 28 stalls + rotary stalls signed up already
• Father Christmas on Fire Engine – Clematis CFA at 11 am
• If helping wear Christmas gear
• Gift wrapping for a gold coin donation – if you have any wrapping paper, please bring some along

• Sunday 18^th February
• Planning has been going well
• Markets – pick out stalls good for the Man Cave Alley
• Been running for 28 years – had 2 yrs off for COVID and ran one event at Pakenham back to our home ground in Gembrook Oval again

Kids Fun Run with Puffing Billy – PP PHF John Shaw

• We raised $45,000 may send a little more than that
• Next year isn’t that far away – Allan Douglas and Pres. Sangeeta will co-chair next year
• Asking for members to take on key roles on the committee shortly

• Bottle brushing machines – project more information to come (at least that is what the editor thought they heard)!

• Engineers without Borders meeting – grant from District to build toilets in Vanuatu in the pipeline, more to come

• Moved to The Hub 12 noon start (as not sure of the weather)
