Our club certainly doesn't ease slowly into the new Rotary Year. Last week we celebrated our first club meeting of the year and were thoroughly entertained and informed by Di Dall'Oglio from Emerald Pilates. Di explained to us the benefits of Pilate's and even had us up to perform some simple, but very effective routines. I'm sure that some of us felt the 'muscle mutiny' the following day in our calves or glutes!

Prior to our first club meeting, our new Board met for a Planning Session, and I'll update on our plans for the coming year on Tuesday 15th July.

On Thursday night, our first group of volunteers braved the cold at Gembrook to cook sausages for the travellers on the Puffing Billy 'train of lights.' This was the first of eighteen consecutive nights, and we wish everyone who is volunteering a wonderful experience. To the TOL committee, well done on a successful start to the event.

I'm looking forward to hearing from the Chris May (CFA) this Tuesday as I know that Service is close to all our hearts.

Rotary Snippet - Last year, Rotarians contributed approximately 47 million volunteer hours to 'do good in the world'.

Yours in Rotary,

Peter

  • Helps all systems in the body not just the muscles
  • Exercises were done to undertake mind engaging muscles – mindful movement
  • We don’t need to have pain – use mind to engage muscles and stop us having a stack (fall)
  • Lymphatic fluid is pumped by muscles, so we need to move lifting heel off the ground is best way to move Lymphatic system
  • Pain is a way of body telling you something needs to change

 Kerith Cummins - EarlyAct

Thank you to those who assisted with EarlyAct today – Quadtrail project finished today.
  • EarlyAct students have been fundraising for a new tap on the school oval for nearly 12 months and have finally reached their goal. This term, all classes undertook a Small Change for a Big Change initiative, with students donating coins throughout the term. On Tuesday 1 July, the classes made coin trails with their collected coins, a fun activity that involved the whole school and raised the amount of $479.05. Rotary has been approached to provide a plaque to be placed near the new tap when it is installed on the oval to acknowledge the efforts and assistance of the EarlyAct club.
