Hello You Really Awesome Rotarians!

What a wonderful array of goodies there are in the showbags!!  A big thank you to Kelly for sourcing The Loot and to everyone who was at The Independent on Wednesday night to pack those 500+ bags.  As the old saying goes, many hands make light work, and I think we proved that to be true on Wednesday.  We had a lovely dinner after all that strenuous circling of the packing tables (Roy’s wife Ali told me more than once that she was getting dizzy) and thank you to Marcus for organising the venue and meal again this year.

Hopefully the weather Gods will shine on us on Sunday and we will have a terrific turnout of little legs running with Thomas and lots of parents supporting the market stalls.  John H and his team have put in an enormous effort organising this event again and I sincerely thank them all very much.  Looking forward to seeing a see of blue and yellow shirts adorned with Rotary wheels on Sunday.  J

As I mentioned in the Conundrums last week, we are getting to the busiest time of the year, not necessarily for Rotary, but certainly for family stuff and time is extra precious.   We have just a few Rotary commitments scheduled for the next month – KFRWT; Carols by the Lake on the 13th Dec & The Dig In Café.  (I think that is all…although you know what I’m like – bound to forget something major!)  Please try to squeeze them in between your family time, then we can rest for a Summer break ready to hit the road with The All American!!

With the Christmas rush looming, my days seem to fill with more anxiety about everything rather than smiling at the sunshine and festivities!  When we were living in Alabama for all those years, we were fortunate to be invited to friends’ houses to celebrate Thanksgiving around this time in November.  Although it related entirely to Pilgrims and Native Americans way back when, I found it to be a lovely day to reflect on what we are grateful for, the blessings we have and to simply spend time with family and friends.  So many people say it’s their favourite holiday as it’s just like Christmas – but without the stress and expense of presents!!  I hope you find a day of thanksgiving in this busy time!

See you Sunday and then Tuesday for a recovery drinkie or two!!

A train related conundrum for you this week…
Thomas and Percy travel from one town to another town all day, always on the same track, always going nonstop and at the same speed. Thomas left at noon and took 80 minutes to complete the trip, but Percy, who left at 4 PM, took an hour and 20 minutes. Why?

16 incredible years – over $3 million dollars raised!

With the help of dedicated supporters, including some who’ve been involved since the charity began; the Bailey’s Day team works tirelessly throughout the year to raise funds.

Moving forward, Bailey’s Day will continue to help improve the level of care and resources at the Children’s Cancer Centre at the Monash Medical Centre. Also on the agenda is cancer research, as we continue to strive towards a cure for children’s cancer.
