Been going for 35 years
Project most Rotarians think about.
300k people used to be paralysed each year. We used to have iron lungs
Currently there are only few cases, eg. in Afghanistan and Pakistan, but it has been difficult to irradicate (small pox is the only disease we have irradicated).
If we stop working towards eradication, it will come back.
There will be a fellowship walk from Cockatoo to Gembrook in a couple of weeks’ time that people can join to support the cause.

PP PHF DGN Emma Clark - Lost Woods Market
Fundraising and Membership, Marketing and PR Committees are coming together to provide an information stall at the Lost Woods Market on Saturday 12 Oct. Thank you to all for their help in organising the stall, especially Emma in the absence of Kris and Sangeeta at the weekend.

Catherine commented that when new members come to the club there may be some perceived clicks – we have known each other along time so we do have friendship groups. Club members should please be aware of this and if you are new and working in your Committee you can get to know people better.
Peter – there are bound to be groups of friends in a club this size. We need to work through the inclusive part of this.

Tip for today black plastic cannot go in recycling bin – need to go into the landfill bin.
Long life milk containers/Up ‘n’ Go should not go into the recycling.

A VERY BIG Thank you from Tina:
Two weeks ago – we were given an opportunity to have 26 pallets of brand spanking new craft goods – suitable for KFR show bags. Valued at $70,000 retail.
There was Glitter, and plasticine and plaster and molds and all of this amazing craft stuff. Try as I might, I could not get a place to house the goods. It was to be a missed opportunity, in fact twice, I said, we couldn’t do it. But I hadn’t figured on Melinda Moulday. Such a shame to miss out on this gift – she said. Such a shame. We can do it. AND SHE DID.
We hired a truck, a big truck (her husband Dan has a license for it) and he and Melinda spent the entire day loading and unloading – that’s how long it took, for the staff at the premises to load up the truck – twice.
And for Dan, to unload it into their shed at Avonsleigh. There was a proviso, to this deal, and that was that the goods had to be gone from the shed within a week. I wasn’t sure that it could be done – but I hadn’t ever worked with Melinda before.
They picked up the goods on Wednesday and they were all out of their shed, by 5.00 pm on Thursday. Melinda contacted so many groups; Emerald, Macclesfield, and Selby Primary Schools, Emerald Pre-school, the toy library, Avonsleigh, Pakenham Heights, Andrews, Nar Nar Goon and Upwey South, Kinder’s. We already had contact with organizations at St.Lukes and live 2 disability Support group. As well as that, I have a carport full of goods for the KFR, for the Monash Hospital and for any Rotary Organizations that need it. We will also be using the goods at the Woods Market on Saturday for our wheel to raise money.

I can’t be at Rotary this coming week, I am finally getting away for a few days. But please everyone, take the time go and congratulate Melinda, on a job well done.
