It’s a pity that we didn’t have more members attend on Tuesday as it was great to get the final rundown of the highly successful Deb Ball that Shalini and her team did a magnificent job on last Saturday.  It was great to hear Gayle relay the story of how a couple of the girls has said that that had been the best night of their lives, to be reminded of how Kelly had stripped the mayor of his chain of office and part undressed him with her teeth (there are photos to prove it), to see the fruits of Shalini’s excellent coordination that enabled 471 attendees to have a fantastic night and to know that this had raised $12,000 for the Club (more than had ever been achieved in any previous year).  It was especially pleasing to finish our last major event this year in this way since from my perspective, every single one has been a huge success in terms of fulfilling the intended goals, raising significant funds and ensuring that everyone had fun whilst doing it.

It was also nice to get feedback from Caileigh Thornton (one of our McLeod Murphy recipients) on how our sponsorship has helped with her studies (e.g. book purchases) into dermatology.

Next week will be the last Club meeting of this Rotary year and is notionally a Club Assembly.  Since there won’t be much to report on for the remainder of the year (😊), I have asked each of the Board members and Project Leaders to spend a few minutes feeding back on what they had enjoyed about the past year.  It should be a relaxed meeting!

Last Week's Meeting

DEb Ball report

What a wonderful night on Saturday at the Deb Ball!!  33 couples 471 guests and over $12k raised for the club - well done Shalini and her committee - a lot of hard work and organising ensured a faultless event that was enjoyed by all who attended.

Shalini provided a verbal report to the club and mentioned the guests of honour our own President Ian Ash, Jodie Doble and her husband James as well as the Mayor of Casey, Clr Graeme Moore.  John Henderson, Vicki Van Den Bergen and Henk were thanked or MCing, Kerry Champness, Gayle Barrot and Kris Ash for their support on the day and a special thank you was extended to all who helped with the dance classes.  Andrew and Gayle the instructors did a first class job as always bringing the young people into step.

The DJ on the night was brilliant, the purchase flowers worked well, the raffle alone raised $648.

Venue booked for 2020 - put 13 June into your diaries!!!
