Hello and welcome to another week full of fun and frivolity!
Firstly, I would like to thank the Youth Committee again for their tremendous work organising the Primary School Speech Contest. The night ran very smoothly and was very well attended by parents, teachers, principals, Rotarians and dignitaries. The speeches were delivered with confidence and showcased our local primary school students. Thank you to all for the delicious supper (and helper chicken rolls) - it was very well received!!
This week’s meeting is a PARTNERS’ & FAMILY NIGHT (please invite yours!) and we welcome our District Governor, Shia Smart, her husband, Duncan and their son Flynn, to our meeting. It will be terrific to learn about the DG’s Family Project and to show Shia that our club, at least, is following one of her goals of the year - to have fun!! (Although that’s pretty easy and normal for our Club!! Lol!) Assistant DG, Brian Hodgson, will also drop in so please make sure you say g’day to them all. A splash of Halloween Fun is in order, so please remember to dress up just a little - or a lot!!!
Tina and I attended the Emerald Secondary School’s Valedictory Dinner on Thursday night at The Grand on Cathies Lane. It was a lovely night and we presented watches to two students who were nominated by the teachers as being all round "good school citizens.” A really nice group of young people and it gave us an opportunity to connect with some of the teachers who seemed really keen to learn more about the Rotary programs available to our secondary school students. Watch this space, as they say!!
The Kids’ Fun Run With Thomas is fast approaching!! "Toot Toot" and all that!! We’re putting a call out for some more helpers to be fairies, pirates, whatevers to help keep the runners entertained and contained at the beginning of the runs!! If you have a willing older teenager, for example, who you would like to volunteer, please contact John Henderson or Naomi Falconer.

This week, we’re back to a conundrum…
Peter had a terrible headache. The doctor gave him five tablets to ease the pain and instructed him to take one tablet every 15 minutes. How long did it take Peter to take all the tablets?
Hopefully that’s not hard enough to give you a headache!
The answer is…. hidden somewhere in the Sparkle! Hehehe!!
