A Special General meeting was held.
Guest Speaker - Sue Gregory - Australian Himalayan Foundation
Sue shared stories of her late husband Greg Gregory connected to the legendary climbers such as George Lowe and Sir Edmund Hillary, offering personal reflections on the challenges, humour, and camaraderie of the early Everest expeditions. What began as mountaineering adventures eventually grew into something much larger — a long-term commitment to helping the people of Nepal.
Over the years, charitable organizations and supporters helped fund schools, teacher training, and community development projects throughout the Everest region. The speaker reflected on how dramatically education and living conditions have improved since those early days.
The presentation also explored the rise of adventure travel, with trekking holidays taking travellers to places such as Everest Base Camp, the Andes, and the Galápagos Islands. Alongside these journeys came stunning photography presentations and public lectures that brought the excitement of exploration to audiences around the world.
One memorable story described the moment news arrived that Everest had finally been climbed — interrupting climbers who had gathered around a radio hoping to hear the FA Cup Final instead.
As the evening concluded, the audience was reminded that Everest Day is celebrated each year on May 29, honouring the first successful ascent of the world’s highest mountain.
More importantly, the presentation highlighted a deeper legacy: beyond the adventure and history, the true impact of Everest has been the lives improved through education, support, and international friendship.
The Rotary Club of Emerald & District gave a donation of $1000.00

Adrianna Lambeth
Adrianna was born in Scotland, in a place called Stirling. She moved to Australia with her family in 1949 after a six-week boat journey.
Her father, Ian, was a plumber and fitter and was in the navy. Her mum, Janet, was a nurse. They decided to come to Australia when the war finished.
They first settled in Olinda before moving to Dandenong, where Andrianna completed her schooling.
As a young woman, Adrianna studied shorthand typing and bean working as an office clerk. By 18, she was working as a receptionist in a doctor’s clinic. While also undertaking training with the Royal Australian Nursing Corps.
Adrianna met her husband, Douglas though a family friend. They got engaged when she was 19, married at 21 and went on to raise three children: Brooke, Andrew and Megan. When expecting her youngest daughter, Megan, Douglas purchased a butcher shop in Lang Lang.
Adrianna worked in the butcher’s while raising her family. Adrianna also has a passion for show dogs. Proudly owning a miniature collie called Storm, who won many awards.
Adrianna is a proud grandmother of five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
When her kids were younger, Adrianna, Douglas and the kids loved travelling around Australia in their caravan.

The Stan Henwood Award celebrates outstanding community contribution and honours the legacy of Stan Henwood OAM, whose dedication and service to Cardinia Shire has left a lasting impact across the shire. This year’s award was presented to Noelene (Non) Blair.

The Golden Hour Cafe had another successful day, thanks to Kris Ash and her team.
The Interact students from ESC had a great day selling snacks at the Inaugural ESC Interschool Chess Tournament and working cooperatively with the school canteen to take and deliver coffee and lunch orders. It was a great day, and ESC also took out the tournament win!
