Good Morning, dear Rotarians!

I trust this message finds you all snug and dry, amidst the wet weather. As for me, I've been taking it easy this week, recuperating from a bout of sickness.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to PP Marcus for graciously taking the reins and leading our club meeting last Tuesday. Your willingness to step in is truly appreciated. And of course, a big shoutout to Allan and the rest of our dedicated club members for ensuring everything ran smoothly.

Last Saturday, some of us had the pleasure of attending the Monash Charity Gala. It was truly inspiring to be in the company of such incredibly generous individuals.

I've heard nothing but glowing reviews about one of our guest speakers from Tuesday night! Myra's presence was delightful, and I hope this experience opens up new avenues for her.

A special acknowledgment to Bob Allardice and the RORP team for their commendable efforts. Your initiative is making a real difference, and it's heartwarming to see some of our members lending a hand over the years.

Sending my best wishes to PP Catherine and her team for the Rotary market today. If you find yourself in the vicinity, do drop by and show your support.

Reflecting on the Object of Rotary, it's a gentle reminder of the values we hold dear: fostering friendships, upholding ethical standards, embracing service in all aspects of our lives, and striving for global understanding and peace.

As we approach Mother's Day, let's take a moment to celebrate the incredible people who shape our lives with their love and strength.

I leave you with a thought to ponder: What drove you to join Rotary, and what continues to inspire your journey with us?

Wishing you all a beautiful week ahead!

President Sangeeta.

In order to confirm numbers for meetings at the pub, please ensure that you communicate the following to PP PHF Lorna:
  • notify if NOT attending by 12 noon on the MONDAY before the meeting
  • and notify if bringing guests or visitor
  • notify at any time about future absences and holidays.
Thank You!

Last Week's Meeting - 7 May 2024

A big thank you to PP PHF Marcus Adams who stood in for President Sangeeta who was unwell.

Marcus welcomed Myra and her support team from Emerald Secondary College, plus her brother Toby, Father Greg and mum Mira. Myra shared her reflections on her recent Youth Sailing Challenge experience, which involved a 4-day sailing challenge. Myra told us all about how she navigated the shared confines with fellow students. Myra's adventure was sponsored by various Rotary Clubs.

Bob Allardice from Nunawading Rotary Club attended the meeting to share his experiences working to re-purpose recycled playgrounds.

Some other news from the meeting:
- Our fellow Rotarian, Adam,  has donated a workplace first aid kit following on from the the incident with Tom.
- May is Youth Service month in Rotary.  Youth Service is the greatest role in the club and we have been delighted to start EarlyAct.  Last Friday (3/5) we launched the EarlyAct Club at Emerald Primary School with 23 grade 5 and 6’s joining.  The launch was attended by Paula, Kerith, Sangeeta, Emma and Marcus - all dressed in their Rotary gear.
- Last Saturday night was the Monash Children’s Hospital SHINE GALA Dinner, held at the Crown Palladium. Funds exceeding $1.1m were raised, and 10 of our fabulous Rotarians attended what was a great evening.

Garden Heroes

Last Saturday, 4th May, several of our fantastic Rotarians (Ian, Roy, Lynn, John, plus Andrew & his boys) donned their work gear to help a local couple, whose property required fallen trees to be removed.

Winners are Grinners - 1st Prize Winners (Anzac Day Raffle)

Congratulations to Kelly and Andrew McAllister on winning the Gembrook RSL's Anzac day raffle where the 1st prize was an original Nina Wright dot art painting plus a romantic dinner for two at the delightful Independent Restaurant in Gembrook. The Gembrook RSL's Anzac day raffle was a huge success with an extra 1000 tickets printed and sold, nearly half of these being sold at Woolworth's in Emerald in the last week thanks to a suggestion a very clever Rotarian
