Although down on numbers a bit for a variety of different reasons, those of us that were there got a glimpse of David Gale’s individual Sergeant style which we will see a lot more of next year (well done David!) and also got to hear about the fascinating work that Martin and Pat Buoncristiani have been doing in the field of effective learning.  I took a lot away from Martin’s talk as I feel it not only applied in a education environment, the notion of providing a proper ‘context’ for learning really resonated with me in the work I do with business leaders, so thanks for sharing your wise insights Martin!

 

This week saw the first of our joint Board Meetings between the current Board and Catherine’s new Board and gave us an opportunity to allow for a smooth transition between the Boards.  The Club is in good shape financially and we will have supported many worthy causes over the course of the year.  One of the things that did emerge at the meeting was that there was a feeling that information from the Board Meetings could have been better shared which I accept.  Going forward we may look at putting more information in Sparkle as obviously not everyone can get to a meeting, but at the same time, I would also recommend that if you are not hearing information you would like to receive, please let you Committee Chair or any of the Club Officers know so that we can action this.

 

Finally, thanks to Gayle for the rev up to sign up for Cocktails on the Catwalk this Saturday.  There has been a lot of hard work put into the preparation for this so I would really like to see the Club get behind this and support it by signing up for this Saturday night and bringing friends and family with you.
