- Peter Brock is in Box Hill Hospital our thoughts are with Peter. There was a thank you from Peter – responses to the Changeover Dinner he is looking forward to a great event
- Andrew and Kelly were saying goodbye to AJ for 3 months at the weekend and we all hope he has a great experience in the US of A

Committee and Activity Reports
PP PHF Kris Ash – Membership Marketing and PR
- Thank you to those who attended the Volunteer Expo on Sunday (Roy, Gloria, Shalini, Gayle, John and Lorna). Unfortunately, foot traffic was not great, but the stall looked impressive with a lot of information on Rotary, and we had 4 enquiries about further information which can deem it a success. We look forward to Donna Freeman attending our Open Evening.
- You may not have noticed but the new sign is up as you travel from the pub into Emerald on the righthand side of the road
- If you are in the vicinity of the Bendigo Bank, do drop in and see the display (thank you Sue for your help with set up)
- Hoping everyone is enjoying the ‘Know Your Rotarian’ meals – if there are any problems please reach out to Kris or Vicki.
- Don’t forget to invite friends and acquaintances to the Open Evening – this is an opportunity for us to showcase what we do as a club in a relaxed and friendly environment
Club Meeting Management
We haven’t had a discussion about the management of meetings in a while and a brief reminder is probably good idea.
- The Sergeant starts and ends the meetings and conducts the fine sessions
- The Chairperson manages the agenda and the timing of speakers to ensure we finish on time.
- Not everyone is comfortable in front of a group of people speaking into a microphone – in fact as nerves kick in, we often become more verbose! However, can we please ensure we listen and give the speaker the time and space to say what they need to say
- It is the job of the Chairperson to manage the speakers and how long the speak, and it is quite okay to move into the speaker’s space at the rostrum to give a gentle hint to finish up
Kris reminded us about the 4-way test:
Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
We all represent an organisation that has enormous respect internationally and has built an amazing brand since 1905 – our club has a 45-year reputation built on respect since 1980 locally. We are known for the vibe of the meetings, the fun we have but also for the great impact we have in the area through our projects and fundraising.
With so many events and socials coming up, please remember we are all representatives of an amazing brand so let’s be mindful of what we say, how we say it and ensure we deliver our messages with kindness. J
PP PHF Tina McInerney
- Dementia Café Grant application for $2,000 has been received from Cardinia Community Foundation
- Those interested – getting a group together in early July for training with the Umbrella Dementia Café organisation. Kirsty their CEO will be attending next week to provide information about the project to the club
PP PHF Ian Wakefield – Container Sorting
- It is planned to move the container before Oct from Ken’s house to a PBR location
- Need to empty out the rubbish – Ian needs volunteers to empty container next Tuesday (3 June) for 2 hours in the morning
- We will then clean it, paint and relocate it
Kerith Cummins – EarlyAct
- Sausage sizzle at the ukulele festival raised $585 towards the tap for the school oval
- Kerith needs volunteers for First Responders Day – looking for biscuit making helpers on Thursday 12 June – Holly from Emerald PS will be there so please let Kerith know if you can help in the morning and also walkers for the afternoon to deliver the biscuits. Walkers are also required on Friday 13th to deliver to the police and ambulance that day after assembly.
PP PHF Shalini Penny - Treasurer
- Rotary Fees – before we get to the end of June, please let Shalini know if you are not going into the next Rotary year – if we tick over to 1 July then fees are owing for that person and we don’t want to incur fees unnecessarily
- Fees – Shalini will send the proposed fees for approval to club members these a split between 3 areas:
- International fees – dictated by Rotary International
- District fees – dictated by the District
- We also apply a small fee to assist with speaker meals, club phone etc

Reminder to bring old optical glasses so they can be utilised internationally

Our very own guest artist Anna St Clair will be guiding participants in creating masterpieces (or there abouts)!! – 13th June 2025
