Last Week's Meeting
Club Assembly
We welcomed Ros Weadman to our meeting again this week and look forward to her becoming a member of the club.
Kids Fun Run With Thomas - John Henderson
John reported that all is coming along well with the organisation for the event this year. We will be featured in RDU in a section on unusual events Rotary are involved in. We are just finalising the text and images for the editor.
Ian Wakefield reported on the $40k we gave to the Angliss a few years ago now that has not been spent on the intended playground due to no fault of their own as goverment grants have delayed excution. John and Ian met with the directors this week and the playground should be finalised this year.
Cocktails on the Catwalk - PP PHF Kris Ash
What can we say!! We blew the old fuddy duddy image of Rotary well out of the water on Saturday with an hilarious display of manhood by some of our Rotarians and friends. Funky Trunks could never have had such a showing of their clothing in their entire history. Thank you to all the male models for their bravery and exhibitionism!!
The ladies added some decorum showing Jenny's Shoppe's fashion and did a wonderful job thank you to you all.
I had an amazing committee that kept me sane - Shalini, Gayle, Vicki, Susi and Shalini and our wonderful Catering Manager Kelly who said 'don't worry Kris, I have this all under control' .. and she did.
Thank you to the cooks - Kelly, of course, Lorna , Vicki Aneesh and Gayle.
Thank you to our photographer John Koenders and Aneesh for culling the vast number he too down and loading them to the website. Thank you to Ian for his AV expertise and being such a witty MC. Kerry was there in the afternoon helping too.
The bar staff, Michelle, Marcus, Martin and Russ were kept on their toes and worked really hard all evening.
John and Gayle kept balloon sales afloat - excuse the pun - and Catherine twisted many an arm selling a huge number of raffle tickets.
I think I have captured everyone - thank you to one and all.
Raising over $3k was great result but more importantly everyone had a wonderful evening and gave Rotary real boost in the community.
