What a fun night we had on Tuesday celebrating the silly season in true Emerald style, with family and friends. Thank you to all who came along; I hope you enjoyed the evening. For those who missed it, sorry about that! You missed seeing Father Christmas giving out gifts to our Rotary Children; The Spangles leading us all in a pretty good session of Christmas Carols (well done ye singers); Shalini and Kris with their non-negotiable Dirty Santa Rules; present stealing; great fellowship and people decked out in their festive garb! It was really lovely to see one of our honorary members, Don Borg amongst many family and friends. My absolute thanks to Shalini for organising the night - at pretty short notice too!
Our Club will have a break from formal meetings until the New Year. Look out for our Burnt Chop Nights in January which are a terrific way of saying g’day to each other without the formalities of a meeting. It’s lovely to keep in touch and compare newly acquired Christmas Pudding Bellies before the New Year’s Resolutions kick in!! Lol!! Please let the hosts (Sangeeta & Aneesh then Roy & Aly) know as soon as possible if you are intending to come along to either of the nights.
May you all have the joy of Christmas in your hearts and enjoy the time with your loved ones. Spread the joy with a smile at a stranger. Do a “random act of kindness," maybe pay for someone’s coffee; pay for the meal of the person behind you in the drive-thru queue; leave $5 under a windscreen wiper!! The ideas are endless! So much stress and mayhem at this time of the year, that sometimes a little kindness reminds us what we are actually celebrating.
Sing your hearts out whilst watching Carols By Candlelight on the tele on Christmas Eve...Lyn Beckwith and I will be looking at you - from inside the television!
Merry Christmas one and all and to all a Good Night!
