The President's Judgement

Hi everyone

Full house last Tuesday night with Kristine Ash leading us to the perfect elevator pitch to help bring in new members. Whilst the year is showing how much we support each other: we are certainly getting involved in plenty of fantastic projects, the membership committee is being very proactive and the program has been excellent; we have not increased membership. Let’s address this critical Avenue of service by bringing more visitors along.

Wednesday night Kendo’s band of merry toot toots met and it’s all steam ahead for Kids Fun Run With Puffing Billy. Over 200 tickets already sold. Will need all hands on deck!!!

Saturday we ran our market and had a growing and successful turnout despite the early threat of more poor weather. I am looking forward to hearing the outcome.

Sunday we have members up at Woollies selling KFRWPB raffle tickets.

We’ll done to all our amazing volunteers!!!

This week we are not holding a meeting Tuesday night and instead on Wednesday night we are everywhere:
At least 8 of us are going off to Ginfinity with our Belgrave and Monbulk friends. It seems that our members will be able to order off the menu and any tastings they wish to experience;

Tina and I are off to the Emerald Secondary College valedictory dinner; and
Gloria, Vicki, Ken and Lyn are off to the Primary School Speech Final.

On Friday night we have the Brushstrokes and Bubbles event organised by Kelly - will be lots of laughter no doubt!!

Another highlight: Poppy Elfick completed her year 12 exams - congratulations!!\
Lowlight: some of our members have been struck down again with Covid. Stay safe peeps.

See you all around the Rotary wheel 🙃

Meeting This Week - Let Lorna know if you are NOT attending in person.

Toast to the Elderly PP PHF John Ritchie – Helen Bye

Prior to Emerald Glades, I lived in Selby with my husband. He is still there. I have two daughters and a son. My family are very important to me. My favourite times are when my whole family and pets are all together.
My first job was working in the TAB in Belgrave.  I went to Deakin teachers college and upgraded my qualifications to a Bachelor of Education. I worked as a primary school teacher in a few different schools in Bayswater and Cockatoo. I preferred teaching grade 5s and 6s. Towards the end of my teaching career I did relief teaching.

I am a lot younger than everyone else at Emerald Glades but I’m here for the extra care as I have Multiple Sclerosis. I do not let this keep me down. My biggest yearn is to continue moving. I want to keep up my walking and love walking up to Woolworths and Sticks and Stones for a coffee. It’s very satisfying to be able to do this.

Elevator Pitch – PP PHF Kris Ash

See link to details on how to create your own Elevator Pitch for Rotary - we were technically challenged in the meeting but it is hoped the slide deck and links to Rotary suggestions assists members in being able to tell someone about Rotary in about 45 seconds, remember what you say needs to be interesting and encourage more questions.  In the case of Rotary it is suggested it includes what Rotary is and why you joined and are still here!!
