A particularly hot evening heralded our first Rotary meeting of 2019 and brought out a rash of shorts from Richard and Catherine, some loud socks from Tom and even Kerry was bereft of his usual tie for which all were duly fined.  It was very gratifying to receive the letter from St Lukes via Tina thanking us for our contribution to the hampers as this really epitomises what Rotary is all about.  It was especially nice to read the heartfelt message from one of the recipients (a single Mum clearly on a low income) saying just how much this had meant to her and her family.

On the downside, it was my sad duty to advise the Club that after almost thirty years in Rotary, Don Borg had decided to resign from the Club with a “heavy heart” due to the high cost of travelling to Emerald from Mornington.  As he and Louise are in the process of selling their home and purchasing another, he felt that this would be the best time for him.  I have invited Don to come back for one more meeting so that we can farewell him properly and am awaiting his reply.

A reminder that there is no meeting this Tuesday as Marcus has arranged a barbecue at Pakenham Racecourse in Tynong next Thursday (31/1).  Look forward to seeing you then.

Yours in Rotary,
President Ian Ash
Last Week's Meeting

Brief Notes from last week

We had no guest speaker (theoretically a Club Assembly), so the tables were set up so that the committees could sit together to discuss and some Chairs did a short report.

Ken advised the Club that we have now got the survey results (29 responded which I thought was excellent) and we will be discussing at the next Board Meeting prior to feeding back to the Club.

John Henderson advised that the planned KFRWT presentation to Monash Hospital on 7th February will now need to be rescheduled as they can’t make that date.

Sangeeta reported that the Pride of Workmanship Awards will be held on Tuesday 19th March (speaker still to be advised) and that the cut off for applications is 15th February.

Vicki let the Club know that we had received a laminated thank you from the Glades for our visit to the Home just before Christmas.
