Melinda for coordinating the pic -up, transport and distribution of 26 pallets
All those members who worked on the Rotary stall at the Lost Woods Market last Saturday – raised $656.70
To those members who weded with the Friends of Emerald Lake to remove Sycamore seedlings. 1 tree drops 10,000 seedlings. Cleared 1000???We made a small impact at least!
Advised that Roy has been unwell with pneumonia. Lyn Beckwith, our “Sunshine” lady delivered a bowl of fruit on behalf of the members.

Gemma Olsen from Patient Paws, Pakenham
Gemma embarked on a diverse career path covering psychology, education, animal sciences and animal-assisted therapy and training and in 2014 established Patient Paws. Gemma has successfully impacted the lives of thousands of dogs and their human partners throughout Melbourne through her wide range of training programs and animal- assisted interventions.
She shared a story about a young child called Dylan who hasn’t been speaking and was introduced to a dog called George. Over a period, Dylan became attached to George and one day – 10 months since he had last spoken he was asked what George smelt like. He stuck his nose into George’s fur and said “heaven”.
Gemma’s company specialises in dog training, grooming and day care. She helps to bring out the best in animals. The negative side of animals is that 200,000 dogs are surrendered each year for various reasons. Of these 20% are euthanized.
Club Donation of $70,000 worth of arts and craft items - Melinda Moulday
Melinda Moulday provided an outline of the $70,000 donation of arts and crafts kits from a Keysborough company. Tina had been contacted and whilst the offer was brilliant it was a logistics nightmare and would have meant at least 30 trips for “Kevin” Tina’s van.
Melinda’s husband Dan has a heavy vehicles driving licence and they could store the 26 pallets for a couple of days. Adam Willems-Jones could order the truck via his business and with assistance from the McAllister family, Melinda’s family, Tina and Chris McLeod the whole project was managed in and out of Melinda’s property. Stock is now with at least 16 organisations along with items for Emerald Rotary to use stored at Tina’s home.
Thank you letter have already been received from Emerald Pre School, St Mary’s Pre School and Avonsleigh Pre School.
Congratulations Melinda, Tina and everyone else who worked on this project – sorry if I have missed any name out.

Kids Fun Run talks to Primary Schools. Need someone to talk this Friday at Menzies Creek PS and on 8th November at another PS. Toni-Anne will send out an email looking for volunteers
EarlyAct & PS Speech Competition - Kerith Cummins
EarlyAct at Emerald PS are holding a lolly stall at the school on Saturday 26th October. Looking for volunteers to be at the stall with the EarlyAct members in shifts from 11.30am – 4pm

Fit For Purpose - PP PHF Kris Ash
Kris Ash – Fit for Purpose. Kris attended the training course in Sydney at the weekend. This is a new initiative with us being 1 of 84 clubs chosen for the trial globally. Once Kris has had the chance to talk to Kelly and Peter the details will be presented to the Board and then the club members.
