Dear Everyone,
We all know our Club is full of wonderful members and last Tuesday’s meeting gave further indication, beginning with Martin’s “Know Your Rotarian” talk. After the meeting ended, David stayed on to work through the notes he had made on the Club’s Bylaws, which go hand-in-hand with the Constitution, with me. As of May, the Clubs in D9810 have a new constitution, as a result of Rotary International’s recent Council of Legislation. In the past, items in our Bylaws were transferred to the Constitution which has now been superseded, and the new constitution does not contain those items. So there is work to do to update the Bylaws, and we are so lucky to have “Legal Eagles” as members, who willingly give up their precious spare time after work. And thank you to their families too for allowing us to have their services.
On Saturday afternoon, the Strategic Plan Sub-Committee is meeting to continue to work on the direction the Club will take in the next three years. Since the first meeting in August, the committee has consulted with Ros, whose expertise and experience with marketing has equipped her to advise on Vision and Mission statements. The statements have been given a great deal of thought, and tomorrow we will consider whether the following wording is what we will advise the Board and Club to adopt.

The findings of the Member Satisfaction Survey have helped us greatly to identify our Club’s strengths and weaknesses, and the issues that the Strategic Plan needs to address.
Despite her milestone birthday last week, Youth Chair Tina is not showing any signs of slowing down. Tina was very well received by the new Principal of Emerald Secondary College so there are positive signs that the strong relationship we have always sought with the school can be built. Tina has been very busy putting together Care Packages for all of the Year 12 students, and has received donations from Woolworths in Emerald and Emerald Village Pharmacy. We greatly appreciate the support we have received from those two businesses. Tina has also written a letter which every year 12 student will receive, congratulating them on their perseverance and resilience during the disruption to their very important final year of schooling. Also included are her and the Club’s contact details, and the fact that wherever they may be in the world, a friendly and supportive Rotary Club will not be far away.
Vocational Chair Ian Wakefield has produced the advertisement for the McLeod Murphy Memorial Scholarship. It has been uploaded to Facebook so Ian asks that all members like and remember to share, in other words distribute as widely as possible. The flyer also appears below. He is also a former politician and was Leader of the Liberal Party and the Opposition from 1990 to 1994.
