Rotary Round Up

**Non event weather event**

I hope this Round up finds you well and safe after the recent severe weather warnings. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our meeting this week as a precautionary measure. Although the weather turned out to be manageable, we prioritized everyone's safety.

We missed out on Liz Grigg's presentation on "Reimagining Emerald Neighbourhood House," which promised to be interesting, however, our Program Manager Ian Ash is working with Liz to reschedule for a future date.

*Upcoming Meeting*

Join us next Tuesday  for our meeting featuring guest speaker Carly Burt from Keepsake. Carly will share her business's inspiring work capturing cherished life stories on film through customized, in-home interviews.

**Final Thoughts**

I just wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude and admiration for our amazing club. We are a group of dedicated individuals united by a shared passion to make a positive impact in our community and the world.

Like any family, we may occasionally stumble, and mistakes can happen. Feelings may get hurt, and disagreements may arise. But let's never forget why we're here:

We are here to serve.
We are here to support.
We are here to make a difference.

Our diversity is our strength, and our collective heart is what drives us forward. So let's continue to lift each other up, listen with empathy, and work together towards our common goals.

Thank you for being an incredible team. I'm honoured to be part of this journey with you.

Rotary Information

Firstly, I hope everyone is keeping safe and well with the wild weather we have experienced this week.  As a result the Rotary meeting was cancelled on Tuesday.  For those looking forward to hearing Liz Grigg, we are in the process of trying to re-arrange her guest attendance.

We thought it would be a good idea to provide some further information on Slack and the other communication mediums we use at the club.  With grateful thanks to PP PHF DGN Emma Clark the following information has been assembled for you.  There is a lot of information, but hopefully setting it out as below with links, how to join and what to use the platform for and whether it is essential or not will provide clarity.

SLACK – “What is it?” & “Why are we talking about it?”

As the world seems to be moving faster and faster around us these days, so are communication platforms constantly changing and updating.

At the moment we have access to the following as members of the Rotary Club of Emerald and District – there’s a lot!!

So, Slack is a very useful tool which businesses and other groups are using. We encourage you try to it via the invitation link sent to you on your email. As per our email to those Members not on the Board over the weekend, this is completely optional and we are looking for more Members to give it a try and see if it serves our purposes when communicating as a Club.

Instructions to join and use Slack:
  1. Click on link sent over weekend via email OR on link in table above
  2. Recommend choosing “Continue with email” from the 3 options offered
  3. Enter your email and name or nickname
  4. A code will be sent to your email
  5. Enter the code as directed

  7. You will automatically be in the “#general” group/channel, the “#importantupdates” group/channel and the “#random” group/channel.
  8. You can choose to join the “service projects group”
  9. You may be invited to join your Committee groups/channels by your Committee Chair eg. “community”
  10. If you feel up to it - post a message, send a direct message to someone, or try selecting a “reaction”, to let us know you are in there!

If this feels too overwhelming for where you are at with your access to technology and computers, please do not worry – either ask someone for help, or even just ignore for now!

(PS if you haven’t completed the Social Media Survey please hop on and answer the few short questions Amber has collated – thank you)
