Hello Fans and Other Electrical Appliances!
Welcome to another fun filled week of Rotary surprises and friendship. A week where things are gradually opening up wth regards to gatherings, eating out and fishing!! (I hope you had some success today, Ian Wakefield)
Last week saw me with all sorts of technological dramas, which I have to say I haven’t had before, trying to let our guest speaker into the zoom meeting!!! Poor Peter Hitchener was certainly left on the outer and I do apologise to him, all our members and guests, as the time we had the pleasure of his company, was cut considerably. He was very gracious with it all and gave a entertaining speech nevertheless, even offering to come back sometime or report on a Rotary event if we’d like that.
We had lots of guests last week, which was terrific. In addition to our dedicated guests, Peter Ravenscroft and Annie Fenby, we were joined by Goody Wilkes (a friend of Vicki’s), the Rotary Club of Berwick joined us and the DG of 9820. It was lovely to see some other Rotarians and hear a bit of what they have been getting up to too.
This week will see another guest speaker, Michelle Elfphinstone, with an emotional and inspirational presentation about trying to locate her daughter who was involved in a car accident along the road from Emerald to Cockatoo a couple of years ago. I hope we will have lots of our members in attendance to listen to her presentation.
We will also be having another very special presentation, so please come along to support this. ;)

As Rotarians, we may be lucky enough to experience a special moment that makes you realise WHY you are a Rotarian and suddenly you “get it!” That ROTARY MOMENT. For my husband, Dominic (PHF; PP of Rotary Club of Madison, AL) it was a trip to Honduras to help “Paramedics for Children” deliver supplies and vitamins to children in remote villages. To get to these children, he and his fellow Rotarian companion had to ride horses for several hours over fairly rough terrain. The gratitude & smiles shown on the faces of the children, teachers and villages made the uncomfortable trip so worthwhile and the epiphany of the Rotary Moment was suddenly evident.
For others, it might be just a simple sausage sizzle that brings joy to others. Whatever it is, whenever it is, I sincerely hope you embrace and recognise your Rotary Moment!
