Hey all,

What a brilliant meeting Tuesday night – full house; the return of the Borg; the induction of a genius; we entered the mind of a member who normally enters the minds of others; love was in the air and didn’t the conversation turn saucy; and plenty more!

Congratulations Allan Douglas on your induction.  The first for this Rotary year and our Club looks forward to getting to know you and working alongside you.

Thank you Hita for sharing your life’s journey with us.

It is not too long before we will be rocking Canberra – can’t wait!  Thanks to Gayle and Lyn and no doubt Chris and Allan for all the behind the scenes work you are currently doing too.

This week we get to scale new heights with the wonderful Sue Gregory joining us talking all things Himalayan.  See you at base camp Tuesday night.

Love Prezz

Toast to the Elderly – PP PHF John Ritchie – Nell Brewyer

I was born in Holland in 1933. One of my favorite memories is ice skating to school along the dyke. I loved ice skating.

In 1956 my husband and I moved to Australia. It was a 6 week voyage where the men and woman were separated which was very difficult as John and I were just newlyweds.

We lived in Silvan road were we built our house. I was a home maker with 4 children. My husband and I rented 2 acres and grew flowers that we sold to the market and I would also sell them from the side of road and loved to come out and chat to people that stopped in.

Some of my favorite things to do at Emerald Glades is participating in the garden group, bingo, exercises and anything to do with music. I love singing and not to brag but I am constantly told how lovely my voice is especially when I sing my favorite song, Edelweiss. I also love to paint; I have some of my art work proudly hung in my room and still love to paint and draw when I have the opportunity arises.  My faith is also very important to me and I am dedicated to attending the weekly service held within the home.

If I could pass on any advise to the younger generation of today, it would be to learn how to sew. I sewed all my children’s school clothes. Making your own clothes is the best way to save money.

Induction of Allan Douglas

Changeover spoke about members leaving the club and coming into the club.   What does it mean – custodians of the club.  We lose members and we gain members.  Don Borg, Russ, Kerry and my father.

Proud to induct a very close friend of mine, so pleased about that.

Brought the original president’s necklace – some great custodians of the club many who are here tonight.  Great memories of great Rotarians who set the path for us tonight.

Ash Wednesday Memorial

Cockatoo Memorial - 40yrs since Ash Wednesday was remembered on 16 February 2023.

Rotary did a lot to assist at the time.  Maybe we will have time to reflect as a club to let newer members know the work we  undertook.

Finally .....
